Course Title and Code: CHM135H1F (Practical Sections) - Chemistry: Physical Principles
Course Description: This course is recommended for students in the life and health science programs. The course opens with an introduction to atomic theory; fundamental concepts of spectroscopy and chemical bonding are also introduced. After a brief review of reaction stoichiometries, the structure of matter - gases, liquids, solids and beyond - will be discussed. The solution state is then presented with an emphasis on the properties of solutions, including chemical equilibria in solution, particularly those of acids and bases. The course concludes with an introduction to the kinetics and thermodynamics of reactions of both chemical and biochemical interest.

In-Person class Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 2:00 - 5:00 pm; Thursday 6:30 - 9:30 pm

Salary: (0.75 FCE)
$14,731.05 for Sessional Lecturer I;
$15,765.05 for Sessional Lecturer I Long Term;
$15,765.05 for Sessional Lecturer II;
$16,140.41 for Sessional Lecturer II Long Term;
$16,140.41 for Sessional Lecturer III;
$16,545.53 for Sessional Lecturer III Long Term

Minimum Qualifications: A PhD in chemistry or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience lecturing and/or coordinating laboratories in general or physical chemistry at the university level.
Description of Duties: Teaching the laboratory component of the course with all of the attendant organizational duties of laboratory preparation and delivery, supervising and marking tests and exams, submission of final laboratory grades, distribution of course evaluations, and holding office hours.
