Position: Sessional Lecturer

 

Course Title and Code: CHM338H1F - Intermediate Inorganic Chemistry (0.25 FCEs)

 

Course Description: Further study of the structures, physical properties, and reactions of transition metals.  Introductions to spectroscopy, structural analysis, reaction mechanisms, d-block organometallic compounds, applications of metal, and main group compounds in catalysis.  The weekly laboratory explores advanced synthetic and spectroscopic techniques including air - and moisture-sensitive chemistry and multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, with a strong emphasis on scientific communication skills.

Class schedule: Monday and Wednesday, 3:00 - 4:00 pm

$5,181.38 for Sessional Lecturer III

$5,285.01 for Sessional Lecturer III Long Term


Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this postings, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

 

Minimum qualifications: A Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry or a closely related field is required.

 

Preferred qualifications: Experience in inorganic chemistry instruction at the university level is preferred.

 

Description of duties: The Department of Chemistry requires a sessional lecturer to deliver six weeks of lectures (12 hours) of CHM338H1F. The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering and preparing class lectures, supervising TAs, setting, supervising and marking exams, submitting final course marks, reviewing course evaluations with TAs, and holding office hours.  Please note that this course is co-taught with another instructor.
