Course Code and Title: CSCB09H3 Software Tools and Systems Programming

 

Course Description: Software techniques in a Unix-style environment, using scripting languages and a machine-oriented programming language (typically C). What goes on in the system when programs are executed. Core topics: creating and using software tools, pipes and filters, file processing, shell programming, processes, system calls, signals, basic network programming

Qualifications: Previous teaching experience as the instructor of a Computer Science course at the 2nd-year university level or higher (required). Previous teaching as Instructor for CSCB09H3 or equivalent (desirable). NOTE: Rate of pay is $13,604 per half-course, higher than the posted amount.

 

Duties: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of an in-person university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; submission of a deferred exam; holding regular office hours; supervising TAs assigned to course. 

 

Estimated TA Support (Hours): 65 hours per tutorial.

 

Sessional dates of appointment:  May 2 - August 31, 2025

Sessional Lecturer II $10,121.77
Sessional Lecturer II Long Term $10,326.62
