Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with relevant training in digital pedagogy and online learning platforms and with past experience in teaching German language courses, as well as proven excellence in communication and cooperation skills.  Additionally, candidates must demonstrate a minimum of B2+ level language proficiency skills. New instructors are strongly encouraged to enroll in GER1820H – Methods in Teaching German concurrent to their first appointment.

 

Relevant Criterion

Past teaching experience is the more relevant criterion than the need to acquire experience in respect of this posted position.

 

Duties Include

Course preparation / Lecturing 4 hours per week / Providing scheduled in-person office hours for academic counselling of students (2 hours per week) / Attending pre-term instructor meeting before class starts / Attending coordination meetings & regularly corresponding with coordinator / Designing tests and exams / Invigilating tests & exams / Grading assignments, tests & exams.

Rate of Pay: Sessional Lecturer I - $9,457.90; Sessional Lecturer I Long Term - $9,930.79; Sessional Lecturer II - $10,121.77; Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $10,326.62; Sessional Lecturer III - $10,362.76; Sessional Lecturer III Long Term - $10,570.02 (inclusive of vacation pay)
