Course Description: This course explores the emergence and reproduction of class and racial social spaces, the development of new economic spaces, and the growing importance of the reform and planning movements. Emphasis is on metropolitan development between 1850 and 1950.

Estimate of the course enrolment:       110

Estimate of TA Support:                   150 (Final TA hours will be based on enrolment figures)

Class Schedule:                            Thursdays, 7:00pm - 9:00pm

Sessional dates of appointment:         September 1, 2025 – December 31, 2025

Salary:                                                 Sessional Lecturer I - $9,820.70.

                                                                         Sessional Lecturer I Long-term - $10,510.03.

                                                                         Sessional Lecturer II - $10,510.03.

                                                                         Sessional Lecturer II Long-term - $10,760.27;
Sessional Lecturer III - $10,760.27.

                                                                         Sessional Lecturer III Long-term - $11,030.35.

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Qualifications:

PhD in related field preferred

MA in related field

At least 5 years of experience teaching at the university level

At least 5 years of experience marking undergraduate essays

Evidence of recent teaching effectiveness

Ability to teach online if required

Brief description of duties: Preparing course outline and syllabus. Delivering lectures; developing and administering grading, course assignments. Holding office hours. Grading of assignments and providing student feedback.
