Description:
As entrepreneurs within the health industry, understanding the impact of business operational decisions on financial statements is particularly important. This course is designed to equip entrepreneurs with the financial and economic decision-making skills required to make the right economic and financial decisions to drive their business. It focuses on how organizations are financed from external and internal sources, making investment decisions within the prevailing economic circumstance. It also emphasizes training students to apply financial tools and techniques that entrepreneurs and managers in health businesses require to maximize value by improving decisions relating to capital budgeting, capital structure, and working capital management.
The University of Toronto instructor will be co-facilitating the course with their KNUST counterpart. Partnering University: Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana.

Class schedule: Virtual 3-hour seminar-style sessions; occurring from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM EST between June 2nd, 2025 – June 13th, 2025.

Sessional Lecturer III – Long Term - $5,417.66

Minimum qualifications: Master’s Degree or higher in Health Sciences or a related field.
Preferred qualifications: Previous experience in teaching, health venture investing, healthcare finance, organization economic decision-making, strategic financial planning and capital raising.
Description of duties: The instructor will be responsible for achieving the course objectives: broadening students' understanding of health venture financing, focusing on financial tools, health industry applications, and approaches to organizational financing, teaching them how to evaluate their health venture financial performance, and helping to further their economic decision-making skills. The instructor will design class and take-home activities, co-creating the mid-term and contributing to the final examination.
