Sessional Lecturer - HIS280Y1Y History of China
Course Description:
A critical history of the place we today call China from prehistoric times to the 21st century, tracing shifting borders, identities, governments, and cultures while challenging any singular definition of "China."
Minimum qualifications:
Master of Arts in History or related field required. Mastery of the subject area as related to the course description above required.
Preferred qualifications: PhD in History preferred. Demonstrated evidence of superior undergraduate teaching preferred. Previous experience teaching a similar course is highly desirable.
Description of duties:
Developing syllabus; course preparation; teaching one two-hour class weekly, in-person lectures; marking; supervision of TA(s) in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 Collective Agreement; conducting scheduled office hours (1 hour/week)
Duties of this position shall be performed at the campus on which the position is located.
Sessional Dates of Appointment: September 1, 2025 to April 30, 2026
Estimated Course Enrolment: 260
Estimate of TA Support: 780 hours
Schedule: Wednesday 17:00-19:00
Rate of Pay:
Sessional Lecturer I: $19,641.40
Sessional Lecturer 1, Long term: $21,020.07
Sessional Lecturer II: $21,020.07
Sessional Lecturer II, Long term: $21,520.55
Sessional Lecturer III: $21,520.55
Sessional Lecturer III, Long term: $22,060.71
