The Department of History is seeking 1 Sessional Lecturer for the following course:
HIS295Y1Y: History of Africa
An introduction to African history and the methodology of history more broadly, this course sets out to question how historians do history, examine differences in theories of knowledge, and explore the relationship between academic and cultural representations of the past. The course also draws on anthropology and related disciplines.
Minimum qualifications
Master of Arts in History or related field required. Mastery of the subject area as related to the course description above required.
Preferred qualifications: PhD in History preferred. Demonstrated evidence of superior undergraduate teaching preferred. Previous experience teaching a similar course is highly desirable.

Description of duties:
Course preparation, lecturing, marking. Supervision of TA(s) in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 Collective Agreement. There will be 48 hours of lectures in this course and one office hour per teaching week.
Duties of this position shall be performed at the campus on which the position is located.
Estimated Course Enrolment: 80 students.
Estimate of TA Support: 336 hours
Schedule: Mondays 15:00-17:00 In-person lectures
Sessional Dates of Appointment: September 1, 2024 – April 30, 2025
Rate of Pay:
Sessional Lecturer I: $18,915.79 includes 4% vacation pay
Sessional Lecturer 1, Long term: $19,861.58 includes 6% vacation pay
Sessional Lecturer II: $20,243.53 includes 6% vacation pay
Sessional Lecturer II, Long term : $20,653.23 includes 6% vacation pay
Sessional Lecturer III: $20,725.52 includes 6% vacation pay
Sessional Lecturer III, Long term : $21,140.03 includes 6% vacation pay
