MGSD01H3 Senior Seminar in Strategic Management

Course Description: 

This course allows 4th year specialists in strategic management to apply their specific skills to several larger, in-depth studies of strategic management issues in open-ended real-world cases. How strategic decisions are made at the higher levels of management with an opportunity to integrate previous training through analyses and presentations.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications: Several years' experience as a private-sector manager or management consultant or several years teaching strategic management in a post-secondary context.

Preferred qualifications: In addition to the minimum, a graduate degree in management.

Duties:

All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration, and marking of assignments, tests, and exams; calculation and submission of grades, holding regular office hours, and maintaining reasonable availability for student and administrative contact, supervision of T.A. assigned to course.

Approximately 50 minutes per student enrolled over 30

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.

In considering qualified applicants, teaching excellence, currency in and mastery of subject area; previous experience in teaching a similar course at undergraduate (university) level or similar environment; several years related professional experience shall be the criteria used in the selection of the most qualified candidate in accordance with Article 14:12.

Note: All positions involve the completion of all course grading. You must be available throughout the exam period as exams are scheduled centrally and individual preferences for exam times/dates cannot always be accommodated.

 

Salary for a half-course (0.50 FCEs) inclusive of vacation pay: The Sessional Lecturer I rate of pay will be $9,820.70. Sessional Lecturer I-Long Term rate of pay will be $10,510.04. Sessional Lecturer II rate of pay will be $10,510.04.  Sessional Lecturer II-Long Term rate of pay will be $10,760.28. Sessional Lecturer III rate of pay will be $10,760.28. Sessional Lecturer III-Long Term rate of pay will be $11,030.36.
