Course number and title: PHYB10H3 - Intermediate Physics Laboratory I
Course description: Experimental and theoretical study of AC and DC circuits with applications to measurements using transducers and electronic instrumentation. Practical examples are used to illustrate several physical systems.

Number of Hours: 0.65 FCE
Sessional dates of appointment: Specific duties will occur between September 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025.
Salary: Starting September 1, 2025 the following rates of pay apply for half courses (F or S), inclusive of vacation pay: $9,820.70 for a Sessional Lecturer I; $10,510.04 for a Sessional Lecturer I-Long Term; $10,510.4 for a Sessional Lecturer II; $10,760.23 for an Sessional Lecturer II-Long Term; $10,760.23 Sessional Lecturer III; and $11,030.34 for a Sessional Lecturer III-Long Term. Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. The rate of pay is established by the Collective Agreement between Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Local 3902 Unit 3 and the University of Toronto.
Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in Physics. Previous experience in teaching at the University level.
Past teaching experience is a more relevant criterion than the need to acquire experience in respect of this posted position.
Preferred qualifications:
Have a background that includes experimental physics (either research or teaching experience) and electronics.
Description of duties:
Preparation of lectures and practicals, lecturing, creating assignments and exams, marking, grade management conducting office hours, supervision of TA(s), and participation in the instructor/course evaluation process by students.
Lectures:
Preparation and delivery of lectures (1hr/week) and practicals (2hrs/week), creation of an exam, midterm test, quizzes and/or assignments, test and exam solutions, exam marking, marks management and availability at regularly scheduled weekly office hours. The instructor will set quizzes and/or assignments to support the learning of course content and will provide solutions to the midterm, quizzes and assignments to a course marker. Management of online support for the course in the form of announcements, notes and term work solutions is also expected.
Lecture Schedule: Tuesdays 11AM-12PM
The professor is also expected to conduct 2 out of 3 lab practical sessions.
Practical Schedule:
Tuesdays: 1PM-4PM
Wednesdays: 11AM-1PM
Fridays: 10AM-1PM
