Course number and title: PPG1007H-S – Strategic Policy Implementation
Course description: This is a foundational course in professional policy practice. It is interdisciplinary, drawing on key concepts from science, social science, business and public administration as well as the world of the policy practitioner. This course introduces students to thinking in a critical, integrated way about how to deliver on public policy objectives in the context of a dynamic political and stakeholder environment. Specifically, it examines key considerations in developing an implementation strategy for a policy initiative.
Estimated course enrolment: 25 students
Estimated TA support: 40-hours
Class schedule: Wednesdays 2-5pm

Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2025 – April 30, 2025
Salary: Sessional Lecturer I - $9,457.90; Sessional Lecturer I, Long Term - $9,930.79; Sessional Lecturer II - $10,121.77; Sessional Lecturer II (Long Term) - $10,326.62; Sessional Lecturer III - $10,362.76; Sessional Lecturers III (Long Term) - $10,570.02

Minimum qualifications: Graduate degree in public policy or economics required, with specialization in finance. Extensive and senior professional policy practitioner experience required. Teaching experience at the graduate level required.
Preferred Qualifications: Completed PhD preferred.
Description of duties: Teaching at the graduate level, developing the syllabus, teaching three-hour classes, providing bi-weekly break-out group leadership and office hours for academic counselling of students, preparing and delivering course material, preparing and delivering assignments and tests, marking student work and submitting grades, and supervising TA.
