Sessional Lecturer SDS377H1S Lesbian Studies: Identity/Theory/Culture

Description:

This multidisciplinary course examines multiple lesbian identities that have varied in time and place. The course will pose such questions as: What does lesbian mean? Why have changes occurred in meaning? How has the identity of lesbian been culturally represented and politically expressed in various social and political contexts? It will also take up contemporary theoretical, cultural, and political understandings of lesbianism.

Class Schedule:                                          Wednesdays, 2:00pm-5:00pm

Dates of Appointment:                               January 1, 2025 – April 30, 2026

Salary (0.5 FCE): $9,820.70 for Sessional Lecturer I ($10,510.04 for SLI Long Term); $10,510.04 for Sessional Lecturer II ($10,760.28 for SLII Long Term); $10,760.28 for Sessional Lecturer III ($11,030.36 for SLIII Long Term), inclusive of vacation pay

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in disability studies, sexuality studies, LGBTQ+ studies, or related field.

 

Preferred qualifications: Doctorate degree in disability studies, sexuality studies, LGBTQ+ studies, or related field. Relevant background in disability studies and LGBTQ+ studies. Experience teaching in a university environment.

 

Description of duties: All duties associated with teaching an undergraduate course, including preparing the course outline, syllabus, and lectures; delivering lectures; developing, marking and administering course assignments, tests & exams; calculation and timely submission of grades; conducting scheduled office hours for academic counselling of students.
