Under the general direction of the Director, Student Development & Career Programming, the incumbent is responsible for PEY Co-op preparatory program development, delivery, and support by leveraging instructional design principles and educational technology. The Learning Technology Specialist will serve as a resource to the department and program stakeholders on best practices, strategies, and appropriate technologies for effective student learning and engagement.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Developing instructional design plans for use in teaching contexts involving educational technologies.
  • Consulting with instructors, administrators and student groups on the development of tailored programming needs.
  • Conducting detailed analysis and evaluation to inform program planning activities.
  • Developing e-learning modules and online assessments using existing software for instructional purposes.
  • Developing project schedules including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables and reporting; and implementing plans and process improvements for project activities.
  • Determining appropriate software needs for instructional purposes.
  • Developing and implementing components of instructional programs.
  • Creating and maintaining course shells on the learning management engine.

 

Essential Qualifications:

 

  • Master's Degree in Education or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum five years recent and relevant experience developing instructional design plans and developing e-learning programs.
  • Experience delivering workshops/training to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience utilizing technology, including learning management systems (preferably Canvas) and course authoring tools (preferably Articulate 360), as an education tool.
  • Knowledge of  HTML and CSS.
  • Experience coordinating/supporting/planning several projects of varying complexities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced knowledge in adult learning principles, educational technology and instructional design best practices.
  • Understanding of AODA compliance requirements in relation to course/program design, development and delivery.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Demonstrated excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent project management, organizational and time management skills.
  • Keen learner; willingness to acquire new skills as technology changes.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member while eliciting cooperation from a wide variety of sources,including faculty, management, staff and students.
  • Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail, especially in a high-volume environment.
  • Proven ability to exercise judgement, tact, diplomacy, confidentiality, and a high degree of initiative.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and the promotions of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.
