Your opportunity:
Reporting directly to the Director, Research Administration, the Research Services Officer will be responsible for supporting the effectiveness, efficiency and success of efforts to attract research funding to the Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing. The incumbent will be responsible for researching, analyzing and recommending grant opportunities, liaising with agencies, collaborators, industry sponsors, faculty and other stakeholders regarding funding applications, keeping well-informed on funding opportunities and resources, application policies/procedures and key deadlines, and ensuring contracts and agreements are consistent with University policy and standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating funding application processes
- Coordinating the preparation of submission materials
- Providing detailed information to faculty and administrative staff on completing and submitting research applications
- Coordinating the implementation of agreements once funding is approved
- Advising research members regarding ethical conduct in research, field research policies and the use of human subjects
- Overseeing tasks related to the production and dissemination of communications/marketing materials
- Tracking and monitoring social media analytics
- Advising academic and administrative staff on financial matters and reporting requirements
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years of research-related experience in a University or similar research-intensive setting.
- Demonstrated experience with editing, reviewing and submitting grant proposals.
- Knowledge of research funding programs, research partnerships, research opportunities, and research ethics.
- Experience working with research granting councils and fundingagencies.
- Experience and expertise in the interpretation and application of funding agency policy, criteria and application standards.
- Demonstrated experience administering/enforcing financial policies and procedures.
- Experience working with research grant budgets.
- Experience working with, and specific knowledge of, SSHRC, NSERC, CIHR, and CFI granting application regulations.
- Experience maintaining and updating information on a website and social media.
- Must have a level of understanding of research funding opportunities that also allows to proactively suggest funding alternatives to faculty members (e.g., research sponsorship, funding partnerships).
- Experience working with the University’s Financial Information System (FIS) and Research Information System (RIS)—or similar programs used at other research-intensive organizations.
- Ability to work under pressure and effectively meet tight timelines.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Demonstrated tact, sensitivity, and judgment in dealing with researchers, administrators and funding agency personnel

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 11 -- $75,223. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $96,196. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
